In September, 2017, we invited the public to explore potential solutions to rising tides, recurrent flooding and drought, together with experts and policy-makers at two community workshops led by Dr. Hope Hui Rising of WSU’s Adaptive Water Urbanism Initiative (AWUI) .
At the Friday evening Rising Tides Workshop, representatives from the Watershed Project, San Francisco Pub
lic Works, City of Berkeley, City of Richmond, neighbors, activists, and the Harbormaster and owners all worked together to strategize on coastal resiliency measures, using Richmond, CA as a test case. At the Saturday morning workshop, the group included professors and students from the University of San Francisco, architects and principals from Leger Wanaselja Architecture and MIG, tech entrepreneurs, neighbors, activists, and consultants.
